Vanessa Lea & Road Train
http://www.myspace.com/vanessalearoadtrain Vanessa Lea & Road Train is North Coast act, led by Toyota Starmaker 2010 Finalist, Vanessa Lea. Together with Roger Faynes and Mark Wells, they've been rocking music venues all over New South Wales. When performing live, Vanessa Lea & Road Train bring their unique blend of country/folk/rock, with a wide range of instruments including banjo, mandolin and harmonica. They perform several of their favourite originals from the album , but also cover a vast range of artists, both old and new, in their repertoire. This includes Aussie bands such as the Waifs, Kasey Chambers, Cold Chisel, ACDC, Paul Kelly and JBT, but also features songs by Dixie Chicks, Taylor Swift, Fleetwood Mac, Travelling Wilburrys and Jason Mraz. Recently having completed a new original 12 track album, "Cause & Effect", Vanessa Lea & Road Train have also produced a new clip for their debut single, "Spoilt". The album can best be described as an honest look at the Aussie way of life. The songs range from a tongue-in-cheek observation of modern society, "Spoilt", which has a honky tonk feel, to a hauntingly beautiful tribute to Schapelle Corby, "Be Brave". There is a sensitive ballad, "Everything he Stood For", which describes the fight of the Aussie farmer, and a waltz written about Vanessa's grandparents, who have just celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in Gunnedah, but also "Oh Coramba!", which is a rousing tune written about the tradition of having a drink in the pub with your mates. Other outstanding tracks are "My Old Friend", a story about the darker side of life, which has a slightly R & B feel, and the intensely proud-to-be-an-Aussie anthem, "The Lucky People". Vanessa Lea, "the little girl with the big voice", pours her soul into every tune, with her unmistakable husky tone. Meanwhile, this talented band is still busy playing live all over the state to promote their latest CD.
